“Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe and partner Erin Darke have welcomed their first child, publicist Scott Boute confirmed to USA TODAY Tuesday. Boute did not provide any more details. The representative had confirmed the couple was expecting in March.

Radcliffe and the 38-year-old actress met 10 years ago while starring as love interests in the 2013 movie “Kill Your Darlings.”

The film is “a wonderful record of us flirting for the first time,” Radcliffe told Playboy in October 2015 of their love story. “There’s no acting going on – not from my end, anyway.”

He added: “There’s a moment when she makes me laugh, and I’m laughing as me and not as my character. She was incredibly funny and smart. I knew I was in trouble.”The couple worked together again in 2021 for an episode of Radcliffe’s TBS series “Miracle Workers.”

Radcliffe spoke about his relationship with Darke in a May interview with USA TODAY. He reflected on practicing the accordion for the “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” film while living together.

“Making the film, I was practicing accordion every day in this small room in Los Angeles, and I think that was a lot for my girlfriend,” he said. “There was no place for me to go, so Erin was hearing quite a lot. The first month of me learning the accordion, her life must have been misery. She was living in a world of hearing the opening bars of ‘My Bologna,’ but never getting past that. Those weeks were rough. Now that we are back in New York, I can go in my own room and practice.”

In October, Radcliffe opened up about how he would want to approach fatherhood.

“I want my kids, if and when they exist … I would love them to be around film sets,” he told Newsweek. “A dream would be for them to come onto a film set and be like ‘God, you know, I’d love to be in the art department. I’d love to be something in the crew.’ Some part of this, but not from that.”

However, Radcliffe said he wants to shield his future children from fame.

“Film sets are wonderful places. I think a lot of the time it can be wonderful for kids. But it’s really the fame side of it that should be avoided at all costs,” he added.
