R’Bonney Gabriel Uses a Dramatic Custom Dress in the Miss Universe 2023 Pageant, Drawing Inspiration from Mermaids

2022 Miss Universe R’Bonney Gabriel embodied mermaid inspiration as she dazzlingly arrived at the 2023 Miss Universe competition in El Salvador on Saturday. Her blue off-the-shoulder gown included a plated bodice, fish-scale skirt, and paillettes. The Lebanese jewelry brand Mouawad provided her crown, which finished off the ensemble created by Gert-Johan Coetzee.Since 2019, Mouawad has served as the Miss Universe Organization’s official jeweler.

Rubin Singer created the swimsuit that this year’s Miss Universe finalists wore. On November 15, the organization that represents Miss Universe launched its first joint retail line on missuniverse.com.

The Miss Universe global pageant debuted a skincare line this summer that features ingredients from every continent except Antarctica and is geared toward ladies from a variety of backgrounds.

The Miss Universe organisation removed the age restriction of 28 for participants, which meant some significant changes for the 2023 competition. This year was especially historic because it saw the arrival of two transgender individuals, a plus-size model, and moms at the event.

The Miss Universe contest was webcast in Spanish on Telemundo and in English on Roku.

86 different nations will be represented in the 2023 Miss World pageant, with the winner taking home the title. At the ceremony, singer John Legend gave a performance. The hosts for the evening were Jeannie Mai Jenkins and Olivia Culpo. The American R’Bonney Gabriel is the 2022 Miss Universe.
