To her list of accomplishments, Taylor Swift can now add box office record holder.

After selling out stadiums throughout the nation, the pop sensation is currently ruling the box office with her concert film, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.”

According to Box Office Mojo, a website that analyzes box office receipts, the film grossed $92.8 million during its first weekend in both the US and Canada, making it the highest-grossing domestic concert film ever. This indicates that it exceeded “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never’s” $73 million run in 2011.

During the weekend, fans swarmed to theaters, eager to experience the nearly three-hour concert in person. They picked up popcorn buckets from the Eras Tour and exchanged friendship bracelets with complete strangers. Many dressed in themed attire, from casual merchandise to fully bedecked bodysuits.
Social media users posted videos of other attendees yelling, dancing, and waving in time to Swift’s lyrics. Often, a large group of people gathered in front of the theater, standing as though they were in floor seats for the Eras Tour. One watcher saw the movie transform into a kid-friendly dance celebration for a packed auditorium.

A few others mentioned that they could hear the singing while watching “The Nun II” or “The Exorcist: Believer” in a different theater.

A number of moviegoers expressed in their posts on social media that they felt crowd members drowned out Swift’s vocals and shone torches that blocked the screen since the excitement was so great in many theaters.

However, numerous others brought up the fact that Swift had pushed for viewing the movie like a performance.
AMC Theatres, the film’s distributor, had likewise promoted singing and dancing throughout the screening, but cautioned viewers not to dance on seats or obstruct others’ views in its instructions.

When the concert film hit theaters, Eli Countryman, 25, saw it two nights in a row. Less than a day after Swift had walked the red carpet at the Grove mall in Los Angeles, he attended opening night on Thursday.

He claimed, “I spend all my money on Taylor Swift anyway,” while wearing three friendship bracelets. We’re going to one of the larger screenings just to see it in high definition, so that excites me.
Some in attendance at the Grove’s premiere event expressed a want to examine Swift’s routines’ choreography up close. The 27-year-old Heather Conway expressed her excitement about reliving the Eras Tour after seeing it earlier in the year.

“You know, she really puts on a show.” stated Conway. Additionally, her admirers are all incredibly kind and accepting of one another.
