
This section is about 10 km starting from Poonamalle Bypass Metro Station to Porur Junction Metro Station, interconnected with Poonamalle Metro Depot
Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) on Monday commenced the testing and beyond Mullai Thottam Metro Station, up to Porur Junction Metro Station in the Corridor 4 of the Phase-2 project, says a release.
The trials involved driverless train set, but operated with drivers, said sources.
This section is about 10 km starting from Poonamalle Bypass Metro Station to Porur Junction Metro Station, interconnected with Poonamalle Metro Depot. For current testing and commissioning, Poonamalle Metro Depot will be the nerve centre to co-ordinate the testing & trials of the section. Progressively, CMRL will be conducting various tests & trials in the Stage 1, necessary for ensuring safety & comfort of the passengers, says the release.
MA Siddique, Managing Director stated that the extension of testing and trials today marks a significant milestone in the progress of the Phase-2 Project of CMRL. These trials along the viaduct section of Corridor 4 (26.1 km from Lighthouse to Poonamalle bypass) will demonstrate our commitment to achieving key project targets in the shortest possible time period. We are steadily moving towards commissioning the project for the benefit of the public.
