1. Commit: Fitness is a daily commitment. Running and training for marathons keeps me motivated, pushing endurance and discipline. Equally important is mental agility; reading is my daily ritual — a book or morning newspaper. With a goal of 20-30 books a year, learning remains a continuous process.
2. Clarity: Mornings set the tone — it begins between 5.30 and 6 am. True to my South Indian roots, breakfast is a comforting plate of idli or dosa. Fitness is a non-negotiable daily habit. I usually go for a run on weekends and join group workout classes on weekdays. My regimen includes a mix of weight training and high-intensity interval training.

3. Eating clean: I eat right and clean — so food is nutritious, yet light. Think sambar, rice, stir-fried vegetables or kootu, and fruits. Meals are balanced — with the right proportion of carbs, protein, and fibre. I’ve recently incorporated protein shakes, but the core is simple — wholesome, home-cooked meals.
4. Unwinding: Evenings are about winding down — after a light meal, am in bed by 9.30 pm. Sleep is non-negotiable — it’s the foundation of productivity and recovery.
5. Mindset: Beyond structured workouts, fitness is a mindset. Whether staying active throughout the day, making mindful choices, or pushing myself towards new fitness goals, it’s an ongoing journey rather than just an activity.
