New images of the redevelopment of the proposal of the National Sports Center of Crystal Palace have been released, which shows a renewed swimming and diving pools and improvements in external launches and the athletics stadium.
The center, which opened in 1964, was the site of the first final of the Women’s Cup, and has also organized the Grand Prix Motor-Racing.
The redevelopment would be complete by Morgan Sindall Construction, announced the mayor of London, with planning requests that will be carried out in imminently.
The ambition is that the work begins in the second half of 2025, and is completed by 2028.
The 60 -year -old building that houses the pools and interior facilities has a grade II list structure that must rebuild according to patrimonial guidelines.
Sir Sadiq Khan said: “The National Sports Center of Crystal Palace is a historical and very dear sports and community installation in which many sports stars in the United Kingdom have begun their careers and trained, but what a great investment and renewal needs.
“We hope to work closely with the partners and the local community to create an exceptional sports place.”
Richard Dobson, or Morgan Sindall Construction, said he delighted in working in the historic sports place.
“We hope to continue with our close and collaborative relationship with the authority of the Great London in this regeneration,” he added.
