As a mark of tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, leading trade associations in New Delhi have called for a complete market shutdown on April 25. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) said it fully supports this call and has appealed to all traders across Delhi to voluntarily keep their establishments closed and observe the bandh peacefully.
CAIT’s Secretary General and MP from Chandni Chowk, Shri Praveen Khandelwal, stated that the bandh is not a protest but a symbol of tribute and national solidarity. “We appeal to all traders to take necessary precautionary measures in their respective markets and ensure that the bandh is observed in a peaceful manner without any untoward incidents,” he added.
CAIT has also requested the Delhi Police and administrative authorities to maintain law and order during the bandh and ensure a peaceful environment across all marketplaces.
It has further appealed to all trade associations across the country to completely halt all import and export trade with Pakistan and to stand united with the government in the interest of national security.
