Primegold International has rechristened itself as Primegold Steel & Power for its new venture to produce green steel.
The company plans to establish a 20 MW solar power plant at Ariyalur in Tamil Nadu. The clean energy generated will be directly used for captive purpose.
Primegold Steel & Power already has a presence in the wind power sector, complemented by long-term renewable energy contracts.
The company has already secured the necessary land and financial backing of ₹65 crore from the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency for the project. The work on this project will begin in April.
Th company’s turnover has increased to ₹800 crore last fiscal from ₹280 crore in FY20,
The growth was bolstered by a strategic backward integration in 2020, with the commissioning of a steel melting furnace and diversification into the warehousing sector, all funded through internal accruals.
Achin Aggarwal, Managing Director, Primegold Steel & Power said the foray into green energy, starting with a captive solar power plant, is a natural evolution for the company.
“Our aim is to produce steel that is not only of the highest quality but also environmentally responsible, contributing to a greener future for all,” he said.
